Bloomsburg Field Hockey Sunk by Shippensburg

BLOOMSBURG— Kim Davies scored two goals and added one assist to lead Shippensburg University past Bloomsburg University, 6-2, in collegiate field hockey Wednesday afternoon.
The teams went back and forth in the first 25 minutes of play before the Huskies started putting pressure on the Lady Raiders capped off by a goal from Jamie Vanartsdalen (Huntington Valley/Lower Moreland) at 28:29. The goal was her 29th of the season.
Shippensburg tied the score a few minutes later when Kim Davies scored in the 32nd minute. Bloomsburg regained the lead just before the half when Vanartsdalen fed Tara Bourke (Hopatcong NJ/Pope John XXIII) with a crossing pass and Bourke hit the back of the cage with seven seconds showing on the clock.
The Lady Raiders tied the score for a second time when Davies fed Kristen Miller for the goal at the 42:32 mark. Davies scored her second goal of the game just over two minutes later off a penalty corner to give the visitors the lead for the first time.
Shippensburg added to its lead at the 14:50 mark when Danielle Haas scored on Jenna Blain’s assist off a penalty corner making it a 4-2 game.
Shippensburg tacked on two goals in the final 10 minutes of play for a 6-2 final.
Bloomsburg falls to 15-3, 10-3 in the PSAC, while Shippensburg goes to 11-7, 6-7 in the PSAC. Bloomsburg is at Kutztown on Saturday night at 7 p.m.
